Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition (Northern Zone – Arusha)
Nane Nane, meaning “Eight Eight” in Swahili, is a national holiday in Tanzania celebrated annually on August 8th to recognize the important contribution of farmers to the country’s economy. One of the largest events associated with this day is the Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition, held regionally across the country—including the Northern Zone Fair in Arusha, which is among the most vibrant.
This exhibition showcases innovations in agriculture, livestock, agribusiness, and environmental sustainability. It provides a platform for farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and the public to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and promote youth involvement in agribusiness.
At New Light Schools, we actively encourage experiential learning, and our students participate by visiting the Nane Nane exhibition grounds in Arusha. The trip offers an exciting opportunity for them to explore real-world practices in farming, food production, and small-scale agribusiness.
It aligns with our goal of nurturing future leaders who are not only academically prepared but also aware of the value of agriculture and sustainable development.
Through guided tours, student activities, and interactive sessions, our learners gain practical knowledge that complements classroom learning—igniting interest in science, business, and entrepreneurship.
